Ingredients

2 tablespoons (1/4 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
9 canned anchovy fillets, minced
1 tablespoon minced shallot
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel
2 7-ounce New York strip steaks

Preparation

  1. Prepare barbecue (medium-high heat) or preheat broiler. Using fork, mash first 5 ingredients in bowl until blended. Chill. Sprinkle steaks with salt and pepper. Grill or broil to desired doneness, about 5 minutes per side for medium-rare. Transfer to plates. Top with anchovy butter.
