Cooks' Note

If you happen to have some anchovies on hand, by all means use them for an even more flavorful dressing. Substitute 4 anchovy fillets, minced, for the anchovy paste.

Ingredients

1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon anchovy paste
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 cloves garlic, peeled

Preparation

  1. Combine the mayonnaise, lemon juice, anchovy paste, mustard, and pepper in a small bowl. Press in the garlic and whisk until smooth.
